Final round at Rapids.

Sept 29, 2013

You couldn't have asked for a better day to race your dirtbike than Sunday at Dyracuse. Saturday night the skies opened up and dumped a good amount of rain on the course which made for near perfect conditions Sunday morning. The temps were great and everyone was ready to have a great day. This was our last hare scramble of the year for District 16. Where did the time go? Just feels like we started the season.

This place has been very unpleasant for me in the past. Seems like I always have some sort of problem or issue at this race each year. I've broke toes, smashed pipes to where my bike wouldn't run, trouble with pit stops, you name it I have had it happen here. So I prepare for this race no different than any other but it just seems to reach out and grab me when it wants. Even with all the bad luck I have here I still fight through it and usually finish well. This weekend was no different than any other year. First off, at the start of the race I was last off the line because my bike didn't fire on the first kick. I was able to make quick work and pass a couple of the guys on the moto track and then a couple more right away in the woods when we entered it. At this point I was in second and just waiting and looking for my time to make the move into first. About half way around the first lap we were on a rocky offcamber section and I caught a rock with my rear tire which sent me a little crooked and I ended up going over a log on the side of the trail, no big deal except on the other side of the log was two more logs at angles and off the ground. All I could do was stay on the gas and try and jump over them. Well I made it over them but when I landed there was a rock my front tire slammed into and ended up pitching me over the bars with the bike fallowing me down the hill. I got up grabbed my bike and got going, but I got passed and then I was in third. I caught and got around Bobby right away and ended up catching Matt shortly after. My other issue was a problem with my starter assembly - it was dragging for some reason and was pulling the motor down so if I wasn't careful my bike would stall really easy (this happened numerous times throughout the day). Matt and I had a great battle going for first place a few laps. Finally I was able to get around him and from there I started pulling away. He stopped for gas and at that time I was able to get a nice gap ahead of him. I rode smooth and smart the rest of the race and brought home the win. I was happy considering what a rough day I was having and my previous luck there.

I would like to thank all my sponsors for everything that they have done this season and would also like to thank my family because they have helped me out a lot. Without all this help it would be hard to get ready and prepared for the races like I do. A huge thank you to everyone!

Remember keep it between the trees!!
