District 16 Hare Scramble – Stone Lake, WI

Sunday June 21, 2015
Finished: 1st AA & 1st Overall

We made the trip to western WI for the Dual district race at Summit Lake game farm.  Racing, Fishing, and shooting were in the plans for the weekend. As usual, rain was in the forecast for Saturday which would make the course slippery for Sunday’s race. So far almost every race has been muddy so why not another one? I was coming off a great race the weekend before in Marquette and wanted to keep the ball rolling. As the sun came up Sunday morning I knew it was going to be a good day. I felt great and was ready to hit the woods.  As 2 o’clock came around I lined up in the front row with 14 other AA riders wanting the same thing- the hole shot and crossing the finish line in first. With all the rain on Saturday the course was going to be very technical and slippery.

As the flag rose up at the start we were off and I was second or third going into the first corner. I charged hard on the moto-track section because I wanted to be first into the wood’s section and it paid off. I was able to ride the slippery conditions well and crossed the finish line with a lead over second place. It was a great feeling to win in those conditions and with such a strong lead.
I would like to thank my entire family and all my friends for all their help at the races. As well as, a very big thank you to all my sponsors! Couldn’t do it without you- that’s for sure. I’m hoping to keep the Husqvarna on the top of the podium as much as possible.

District 16 Hare Scramble – Marquette, MI

We skipped out on going to the Wyoming National Enduro to head up to one of my favorite places to ride – Marquette, MI. This year the race at Marquette was a dual paying points race: District 16 Harescramble and District 16 Enduro race.

On Saturday my dad and I helped out with the kids Enduro. We worked a check and stood guard at some road crossings. The conditions on Saturday were a little dusty and it looked like the course could use some rain.  Late afternoon it started to rain off and on. Later that night it rained some more and that made the course awesome for Sunday.

The first two sections of the enduro were a little tighter woods with some technical obstacles. Test three and four were a lot more flowing. Test Five had a little bit of both; it had some tight papal sections and it opened up to some flowing trail. The mountain was saved for the last test of the day. This was a 12 mile section full of challenges. It actually came down to the last section of the day to determine who was taking the overall win for the day. Tyler Vore and myself where tied going into the final test. I was able to edge him out by a minute in the last section to take the overall for the day. I rode well all day except for a few mistakes and the bottle neck in the second section that took some time from me, but all and all I had a great time and can’t wait to race in Marquette again next year.

A huge thank you to my family for running gas and to all my sponsors for keeping me going strong- couldn't do it without all of you. Thank you!

District 16 Hare Scramble – Arkansaw, WI

We made the trip back to the western part of the state to Arkansaw, WI for the third round of the District 16 Hare scramble series. We haven’t been to this venue for a few years and everyone was looking forward to the excitement of something new again. This was a dual district race with district 23 and 16. The forecast was calling for rain at some point for the weekend and they were right because it poured all night Saturday. This made it extremely muddy for Sunday’s race! The morning races had it the worst as they were the ones drying the track out each lap. When two o’clock rolled around the moto track was looking better, but I knew the woods was going to be very rutted because most of the course took place on the side of the hills.

When the gun shot went off my bike fired up and I was second into the first turn and raced off the track in that position. My bike was a little fidgety with the humidity and I felt like my jetting wasn’t perfect for the temps/humidity. I sucked it up and rode the best I could. I had a lot of trouble throughout the day with catching lappers in all the wrong spots. It definitely was a race about where you caught lapped riders and made it through all the tough sections clean with no mistakes. Unfortunately, I was on the losing side of both today. I couldn’t catch a break with all the lap traffic. I was catching second place at one point and just entered the woods and there was a bottle neck with at least six guys with nowhere to go. I got through that jam but fourth and fifth place caught right up to me after that. The next section of the race the same thing happened (I got caught behind a stuck rider and a guy got around me). Towards the end of the race Matt Stavish and myself where going back and forth - I would get by him and then he would get back by me. It was a lot of fun but everyone was getting tired. I ended up Fifth overall for the day. I was able to keep the Wisconsin riders behind me to get good points for our series.

I would like to thank everyone that is helping me this year- especially my family for all that they do on race day and throughout the week. And to all my great sponsors! Without you it would be tough to do what we do. Thank You!
